On 4th September we had a wonderful and full day completing the 90 laps around the Mooragh Lake in aid of the Royal British Legion. We had a sunny dry day, perfect conditions really. Thank you very much for all who participated in the event and for the members of the RBL who attended. We managed to complete the 90 laps in record time, with sterling efforts from all.

A round of applause should go to Ray who completed 30 laps in a single scull, as well as valiant efforts from founding members Hugh Freeman (10 laps) and Peggy Freeman ( 6 laps) A solid 20 laps from the double scull crew Vince and James who used this opportunity to boost their Boston marathon training. They kitted their boat out with a mast which they decorated with bunting to show their solidarity.

Lisa coxed a four with Martyn, Kate, myself and Jon Curtis, a keen rower who also participated in the Mooragh challenge earlier this year. We went on to complete 10 laps, doing our bit for this event, we were lucky that even social members Mary and David hopped in for the final lap. Alex did very well in completing 11 laps, one more than he signed up for but he did not seem to mind.

I managed 2 laps in a single scull, only my 2nd time out in a single, and stayed dry ;0), there was lots of shrieking though as i was sure i was going to go in.

We all had a well deserved hot cup of tea, scones, jam and cream which was sold by the boathouse cafe. All the funds from the sale of the scones were donated by them too, boosting the fundraiser. A small tombola table was sent up, and the garden jenga game was a big hit.
